My heart rejoices in our Mighty God who came into the world as a holy child.
How wonderful is Your workmanship!
You made all the delicate, inner parts of the child as You knit each one in her mother’s womb before she was born. Every day of his life was recorded in your book – even if those days turned into only hours, minutes, time much too short for us on earth.
How precious are Your thoughts toward each child!
How clearly You made Your will known that
-no one should should hinder any little one from coming to you
– and drowning would be a better fate than the destruction planned for someone who harms or leads a child astray.
We bless the angels who behold Your face because they have been put in charge of a little one.
Lord, You have commanded us to teach the children diligently about You, to make every moment a teachable moment about Your character, Your ways, Your purpose, You Son Jesus.
Lord, hear our cry.
Forgive us that we live in a world and culture that fails to teach the children about You diligently, that leads them astray into lies and deceits, that hinders them from coming to You.
O, God, with anguish we cry out for the unborn who have been aborted, for the children who live and die in poverty and hunger and violence and need.
O, God, forgive us for not changing our society or die trying.
Give us courage to go where you send us, to speak before kings and governments, to speak before our neighbors and families, to proclaim to the generations about You, the Gospel, Your commandments and Your Truth.
O God, don’t let another child take his or her life on our watch! Speak to us in the night and along the way, and give us Your strength to pluck the children back from the hands of the enemy.
May we be faithful to each child You have put in our charge, whether it is the one at our dinner tables. the ones in our neighborhood schools, or the ones half a world away in our generation.
The children, Lord, we pray for the children.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
